Woman attacked with blade at El station

An unknown SEPTA patron with a box cutter attacked and sliced a woman on a platform at the Arrott Transportation Center in Frankford on June 17.

SEPTA police released video of the unidentified suspect in hope that someone will recognize him. The motive for the assault is unknown. It occurred at about 9:30 a.m. The victim, 50, told 6ABC that she was on the platform when the thug approached her and threatened to punch her in the mouth. When he swung at her, she blocked his fist, the woman said. Then he chased her and went at her with a yellow box cutter. The blade slashed the victim in the wrist, but she was otherwise uninjured. Emergency staff at Aria Health’s Frankford hospital sutured the wound.

After the woman fended off the attacker, he fled the station in an unknown direction. He was described as black, in his 20s, with a medium build, a baseball cap, white T-shirt, shorts and a backpack. ••
